FAQ

• Is zinc that is released into water harmful to health?

No, to the contrary.
The tiny amount that is released is far below the allowable standard and is vital to health.

• Is the drinking of limescale harmful to health?

No, the limescale in kettles contains calcium and has no connection with kidney stones, which result from other materials.

• How can I know if the system is working?

The Green Filter – empty out some water from the filter’s drainage spigot into a transparent container while the filter is rotating.  Hold it up against the light and compare it with tap water that has undergone the filtering action.  You will immediately see the difference in the clearness/cloudiness of the water.
AM.Hill – You can compare the limescale/suspension buildup in kettles within two weeks of installation.  Limescale should be brittle and crumbly and easily cleaned; only a thin, hard protective layer remains.
Shower heads and faucets – You can clean wate passages with a simple wooden toothpick, without using chemical materials.

• Do I have to change filters and how much does it cost?

No.  There are no additional costs.

• Will I see limescale in my kettle / boiler?

Yes, because the AM.Hill does not remove calcium from the water, and limescale contains calcium.
Therefore where there is no water flow, such as in a kettle or boiler, we continue to see limescale—however it accumulates in a brittle and crumbly form that is easily removed, leaving a thin, hard protective layer.

• Can I continue using my water purifier in the kitchen?

Yes.
AM.Hill – prevents limescale damage, the Green Filter – filters floating debris and sand, the water purifier – cleanses water of chlorine and bacterial contaminants; in other words each of the products performs its designated function and complements the functioning of the water improvement system in the home.

• What is the expected life of the AM.Hill?

The AM.Hill is designed to last ten years under continued water flow conditions, i.e., assuming that all water taps in the home are open 24 hours a day for ten years.  Therefore AM.Hill will terminate its effectiveness after at least ten years have passed.

• What is the expected life of the Green Filter?

Unlimited—assuming you perform the rinsing action every two or three weeks.

• What happens if I don’t rotate the Green Filter?

Within a short time you will notice a reduction in water pressure, i.e., the filter will become blocked.

• What kind of limescale will I have in my boiler?

After installing AM.Hill, limescale is brittle and does not insulate between the heating element and the water; so when you turn on your boiler you are directly heating the water and not the stone.
You can manage limescale at your convenience, opening and cleaning your boiler when you please and not waiting until it burns out, leaving you no choice.
Limescale in the boiler – looks the same as regular limescale, but is brittle and may be cleaned off with no special materials.
if you have a sleeve/accelerator/ quick heater
A sleeve traps accumulated limescale that crystallize onto the heating element because it has no other place to go.
We recommend opening and cleaning it once every year*
if you don’t have a sleeve/accelerator/ quick heater
We recommend opening and cleaning the heating element every three years*

* We’d be happy to offer you our boiler cleaning service and remove any brittle, crusty limescale that forms.

• What happens with limescale that has already accumulated in pipes?

Existing limescale in old pipes will wear away to a certain level, and leave a thin, hard coating as a protective layer.
AM.Hill performs a catheterizing action, in other words it opens/wears away/cleans piping and water passages.

• Will the change in the limescale’s crystallization structure remain

Yes, independent of time or the distance the water travels from the AM.Hill.

• Where does the limescale go?

The limescale that wears away leaves the tip of the faucet and must be washed off.
